Experience a spectacular 4×4 off-road excursion through the pristine interior of Madeira, past panoramic viewpoints, mountain passes, levadas, and impressive vistas above the clouds.
Madeira is famous for its stunning viewpoints and untouched nature, and that’s exactly what this 4×4 Off-Road adventure focuses on. The day kicks off with a breathtaking drive north from Ribeira Brava, taking you through Serra de Água and heading towards São Vicente. This incredible route winds through deep gorges, showcasing one of Madeira’s most scenic landscapes.
You’ll be treated to an amazing view from the ‘Miradouro de Serra de Água’. Perched high above the Serra de Água valley, this viewpoint provides a fantastic panoramic sight of the entire valley along with the surrounding hills and rugged rocky peaks.
Your first stop will be at ‘Capella de Nossa Senhora’. This Chapel of the Lady of Fatima, distinguished by its huge bell, is situated atop a mountain peak called Pico da Cova, which you can reach by climbing 174 steps. From this vantage point, the view of the village of São Vicente is simply gorgeous.
Not far from there, you will embark on the 4×4 Off Road adventure along ‘Caminha Das Ginjas’. This thrilling route takes you past three levadas: the Levada da Fajã do Rodrigues (PR16), the Levada do Norte, and the Levada do Plaino Velho (also known as Levada do Inferno). As you navigate through the Caramujo area, you’ll travel along a narrow rocky path surrounded by lush vegetation, reaching an altitude of over 1,500 meters.
When you finally reach the summit, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view that seems to rise above the clouds. After soaking in all the beauty, you’ll then begin your return drive to the hotel.
My biggest joy comes from making sure you have the best experience possible. Seeing your smile is truly the best reward! While leaving a tip isn’t required, it is always appreciated as a kind gesture of thanks!
