4X4 Off Road Serra De Agua

Madeira is celebrated for its stunning valleys and untouched natural beauty. This 4×4 Off Road adventure perfectly captures that essence. The day kicks off with a scenic drive north from Ribeira Brava, winding through Serra de Agua towards Sao Vicente. This breathtaking route takes you through deep gorges nestled in one of Madeira’s most magnificent landscapes.

From the ‘Miradouro de Serra de Água’, you’ll be treated to a spectacular view. This viewpoint, perched high above the Serra de Água valley, showcases a panoramic scene of the entire valley, surrounded by hills and jagged peaks. The road twists and climbs steadily up to the trailhead of ‘PR22 Chão dos Louros’, where we take a moment to stretch our legs and enjoy a brief walk.

This hiking trail meanders through the lush Laurissilva forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since December 1999. After our short hike, we venture inland to embark on the thrilling 4×4 Off Road experience. Poncha is a traditional drink from this Portuguese island, crafted from aguardente de cana (a spirit made from sugarcane juice), sweetened with honey or sugar, and mixed with orange or lemon juice, though other fruit juices can be used too. Each Poncha comes with a bowl of peanuts, and here’s the fun part: you can crack them open and toss the shells right on the floor. Afterward, we’ll head back to your hotel, wrapping up an unforgettable day.
